Istanbul / Aragon — The world of motorcycle racing is witnessing two major storylines this week as Turkish WorldSBK star Toprak Razgatlioglu has signed a deal to move to MotoGP in 2026, while Spanish Moto2 frontrunner Manuel González has completed his first test aboard a MotoGP machine.
Toprak Makes the Jump: SBK Star Signs with Pramac Yamaha for 2026
Yamaha Motor Racing and Prima Pramac have confirmed the signing of Toprak Razgatlioglu for the 2026 MotoGP season. The two-time WorldSBK champion will switch from production-based racing to prototype machinery in what is seen as a landmark career move.
“This is a dream come true,” said Razgatlioglu, who had long been linked with a MotoGP switch. “I’m ready for the next challenge.”
The Turkish rider brings with him an elite resume, including 63 race wins and 153 podiums in World Superbike, and is expected to become a central figure in Yamaha's future MotoGP strategy.
While the deal confirms a move to Pramac Yamaha, team officials say the exact structure of the 2026 grid will be finalized after the 2025 season concludes.
González Tests MotoGP Bike with Trackhouse Aprilia
Meanwhile, in Aragon, Manuel González, who currently leads the Moto2 championship alongside Aron Canet, got his first taste of premier-class machinery during Monday’s post-race test.
The Spaniard rode an Aprilia RS-GP for Trackhouse Racing, stepping in for the injured Ai Ogura.
Despite a minor crash, González managed 57 laps and clocked competitive times — finishing ahead of several full-time MotoGP riders.
“This was just a test, but Manu showed excellent pace and control,” said Davide Brivio, team principal at Trackhouse. “We’re impressed, but our focus for him remains on Moto2 for now.”
